Tear It Down was recorded in the winter of 2004 at Knoxville's now-defunct Studio 613. It was recorded over the course of a few days by Don Coffey Jr., and then mixed by Don later that same week. As is often the case with booking blocks of time at a recording studio, one of us invariably got sick (in this instance, Jonathan), but everything worked out anyway. The title "Tear It Down" largely came from the fact that Studio 613 was demolished to make room for Interstate 40 not long after we'd finished the EP there. We had also used an adjacent practice room owned by Studio 613 for a few years before making Tear It Down; it was demolished as well.
